Shore Poets Presents … All Souls’ Night Open Mic Extravaganza

Come on, you spooks (and come in, you vampires)! We’re hosting a LONG DARK NIGHT OF OPEN MIC, so do get in touch to bag your 5-minute slot. In particular, we’d love for you to: read a favourite poem by a dead poet, or write (and read, obvs!) a poem addressed to a dead poet, or write (& read) a poem in the style of a dead poet. All three, even, if you’re properly feeling it! If the above options bangle your poetry brains rather than, as we hope, rattle your poetry bones into action, fear not: all forms of spooky, eerie, eldritch etc poems also welcome, whether penned by you, a favourite poetical fetch, or both. First come, first served! To request a slot, please email us at shorepoetsedinburgh @ gmail.com (remove the gaps). NB We’re executing a one-off shift to Friday night on this occasion, 7pm for a 7.15 start, though the venue’s the same as always (see further details below). With music by house band, Dekoy 👻💀🧛‍♂️🦇

The When & the Where:

Friday 1st November, 2024

7.15pm – 9pm (doors open 7pm)
The Waverley Bar, 3-5 St Mary’s St, Edinburgh EH1 1TA

Admission: Our standard entrance charges are £7.50 (waged) and £5 (concession). This includes one raffle ticket, which will also be your receipt of entry. For those keen to increase their chances of a raffle win, we’ve also introduced a Golden Ticket: at £10, this covers entry plus five raffle tickets. Entry is payable by either card or cash, but it’s worth bringing the latter so as not to miss the chance to buy a book from one of our readers.

The Raffle:

Entry includes a raffle ticket; additional tickets are also available to buy when you arrive, should you wish to increase your chances of winning this month’s scrummy lemon cake. Or you can boost the odds of snaffling that piece of home-baked glory by purchasing one of our Golden Tickets (further details above, under ‘The When & the Where’). The raffle also frequently boasts other no less wonderful but definitely less edible prizes, in the form of pamphlets or books.

See you there!
